Will it replace Firefox? No.
Is it already my second favorite browser in the market? Yes.
1. Extremely fast (waiting for a Mac version of
Chrome was getting old)
2. Best use of cover flow ever (My poor memory can see the page in my history? Purpose, not eye candy)
3. Everything else taken from Chrome (Top sites, tabs on top, Google Suggest)
4. Passing Acid3, beginning HTML 5 support, Developer Tools
5. Of course, it's f&*@#$+ pretty.
I'm not sure how much I'll actually be using Safari past this initial test as Firefox's add-ons keep it way ahead of the game (I can't even begin to fathom how many hours I've saved because of
Web Developer,
Firebug, and
Total Validator)
I've yet to have any crashes throughout my few hours of testing. If Apple really wants to battle with Firefox for users, it'll have to involve the community with some iteration of the iTunes app store. When you allow your users to customize their product, you are pushing forward the ideal of working together for the subtleties in personal preference.
